Meet Report – The Claire Houchin Skills Watford Development Meet 2025
Venue: Woodside Leisure Centre, Garston
Date Attended: Sunday 18th May 2025
The Borough of Harrow Swimming Club was proud to participate in The Claire Houchin Skills Watford Development Meet 2025 on Sunday 18th May at Woodside Leisure Centre. This Level 3 development meet offered an excellent platform for our young swimmers to gain racing experience, record official times, and test their skills in a friendly and well-organised competitive setting.
For many swimmers, this was their first time competing, and they embraced the opportunity with fantastic enthusiasm and maturity. Several swimmers raced with no previous personal times and came away with new PBs and valuable meet experience.
🏅 Sunday Highlights:
- Numerous first-time swims with strong, confident performances.
- A large number of personal bests recorded across all strokes.
- Several swimmers earned Speeding Tickets for swimming faster than the permitted cut-off times.
- Many medals were achieved by our swimmers, reflecting their hard work and growing confidence on race day.
👏 Coach Feedback:
Coaches were extremely pleased with the swimmers’ focus, team spirit, and determination. There were plenty of strong swims throughout the day. In total, our swimmers picked up:
- 7 Speeding Tickets
- 7 Gold Medals
- 6 Silver Medals
- 5 Bronze Medals
A very satisfying medal haul — alongside several other PBs achieved across the team — made it a productive and rewarding outing for all involved.
All in all, it was a very useful and valuable meet that will stand our swimmers in good stead for future competitions. A quick mention as well for how excellently behaved our team was across the entire day — a real credit to the club.
Special thanks to coaches Callum Hill and Owen Roberts, and team manager Emma Soteriou, for their fantastic support throughout the meet. Your guidance, encouragement, and organisation made the day run smoothly and successfully.
📣 Next Up – Final Gala of the Season!
We now look ahead to our final competition of the season – the Kate Lack Trophy & End of Season Meet. This is a brilliant opportunity for swimmers to close out the season with one last race weekend, aim for new PBs, and celebrate the progress they’ve made. We strongly encourage all eligible swimmers to enter!
