Over the this weekend, Harrow Swimming Club proudly saw five of its talented swimmers compete at the prestigious Swim England London Winter Championship. Representing the club were Alex Drdol, Mia Garner, Mina Safahe, Alice Sharrock, and Gert Zaqiri. Their participation showcased their dedication and high level of competitive performance.
Performance Highlights:
- Alex Drdol: Alex demonstrated exceptional speed and endurance in the 50m and 100m backstroke events. He achieved personal bests in both events, showcasing his continuous improvement. Although he did not reach the finals, his performances highlighted his progress and determination.
- Mia Garner: Mia showcased her versatility and competitive spirit throughout the weekend. She entered the 100m, 200m, and 400m individual medley (IM) events, as well as the 50m butterfly, 100m and 200m backstroke, and 50m and 200m freestyle events. Displaying her impressive skills across all strokes, she delivered personal bests in each event and reached the finals in five of them, improving her times in each final. Notably, Mia achieved top 10 placements in the 100m and 400m IM, 100m and 200m backstroke finals despite being one of the youngest finalists. Her consistency and commitment were clear highlights of her participation.
- Mina Safahe: Mina competed in the 50m breaststroke and brought determination and poise to her race. She achieved a personal best time, demonstrating progress in her stroke technique and race pacing, contributing a solid performance to the championship.
- Alice Sharrock: Alice’s participation was marked by strong performances in the 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m and 100m backstroke events. She showcased her sprinting ability and maintained consistent form, achieving commendable results and demonstrating her competitiveness in these events.
- Gert Zaqiri: Gert competed in the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke events, showcasing his competitive edge with impressive starts and turns. He achieved personal bests in all three of his events, highlighting his strength and technical prowess, and delivered notable performances in each.
