The Borough of Harrow Swimming Club adheres to Swim England Wavepower 2024 Child Safeguarding Regulations

At the Borough of Harrow Swimming Club, the welfare and well-being of our swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and families is our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for everyone involved in our club.

Our Welfare Officer plays a crucial role in safeguarding and ensuring that all members of our community feel safe, valued, and listened to. The Welfare Officer is responsible for promoting good practice and ensuring that our club follows Swim England’s child protection policies and safeguarding procedures.

What Does the Welfare Officer Do?

  • Safeguarding: Ensures the welfare and safety of all children and vulnerable individuals within the club, following Swim England’s safeguarding procedures.
  • Confidential Support: Provides a confidential listening service for any welfare concerns, including child protection, bullying, or any other well-being matters.
  • Awareness: Promotes awareness of child protection policies to all club members, coaches, and volunteers.
  • Advice and Guidance: Offers support and guidance on welfare matters and assists in addressing and resolving concerns.
  • Compliance: Ensures that the club complies with all safeguarding legislation and Swim England policies, including the handling of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.

When to Contact the Welfare Officer

If you have any concerns or need advice about:

  • Child protection or safeguarding issues
  • Bullying, harassment, or discrimination
  • Any welfare concerns involving swimmers, parents, or staff members
  • General well-being or mental health support

You can reach out to the Welfare Officer in complete confidence. No issue is too small, and all concerns will be handled with discretion and care.
