Important info
- Arrival & Supervision
- Children should arrive 5 minutes before their lesson start time, ready to swim.
- All children must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times before and after their lesson.
- Parents must remain in the building during the lesson for safety reasons.
- Swimwear & Equipment
- Swimmers must wear appropriate swimwear (no T shirt or baggy clothing).
- Long hair must be tied back and kept under a swim cap.
-
All swimmers must wear goggles during lessons.
Please make sure your child’s goggles fit correctly and are fully working before the class begins. Loose straps, broken seals, and fogged lenses often take several minutes for the teacher to to fix — time that should be spent teaching. Teachers cannot stop the class repeatedly to adjust faulty goggles. We recommend:
-
Adjusting goggles at home before arriving
-
Ensuring straps are not twisted or broken
-
Avoiding brand-new goggles on the first day (pre-adjust them beforehand)
-
Keeping a spare pair in the swim bag if possible
-
- Behaviour Expectations
- Children must always follow the instructions of the teachers at all times.
- Disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the lesson.
- Health & Safety
- For safety reasons, all jewellery must be removed before entering the pool. This includes earrings, bracelets, rings, and any religious necklaces or items worn around the neck.
Jewellery can pose a risk of injury to the child and others in the water. Items may get caught on clothing or equipment, scratched against the pool wall, or lost in the water. Necklaces, including religious or sentimental items, also present a strangulation or choking hazard during swimming activities.
We understand the personal and cultural significance of such items, and we kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that all swimmers are safe during lessons by removing them before entering the pool.
- Changing Facilities
- Children should change in designated areas only.
- Children aged 8+ must use gender-appropriate changing rooms.
- Assessments & Progress
- Teachers will continually assess children and progress them when ready.
- Please trust our teachers’ judgment on when a child is ready to move to the next stage.
- Photography & Filming
- Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited in the viewing gallery, poolside and changing room areas to ensure the privacy and safeguarding of all swimmers. This includes during lessons, even if you are trying to capture footage of your own child. The presence of other children in the background means that such images or videos could unintentionally breach child protection policies and data privacy regulations.
- Communication
- Please direct any queries to zak@harrowswim.com and avoid discussing concerns with teachers during lesson times.
- Keep an eye on our emails and text for any term updates or pool closure notices.
Thank you for your continued support. We’re looking forward to a great term ahead full of confidence-building and swimming success!
