Mia Garner Delivers a Breakthrough Performance at the British Nationals
Triple event qualifier – Two finals – One medal – Countless reasons to be proud
The Borough of Harrow Swimming Club is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding performances of Mia at the 2025 British National Championships, where she truly made her mark among the country’s top young swimmers.
Mia qualified for an impressive three events at this year’s Nationals:
- 100m Backstroke – 5th place in the final
- 200m Individual Medley – 14th overall
- 200m Backstroke – Bronze Medal 🥉
Competing across a mix of events showed Mia’s versatility, determination, and technical strength. In the 100m Backstroke, she secured a place in the final and delivered a powerful swim to finish 5th overall, an outstanding result in a highly competitive field.
In the 200m Individual Medley, Mia faced tough competition and gained valuable experience, finishing 14th nationally, which reflects her all-round ability across all four strokes.
But it was the 200m Backstroke where Mia truly shone. After qualifying for the final as the 4th fastest swimmer with a personal best of 2:24.53, she returned to the pool in the evening session with calm focus and fierce determination. Rising to the occasion, Mia produced another incredible performance, slicing more time off her PB to finish in 2:23.25 and secure a bronze medal.
This is a huge milestone not only for Mia but also for the club. Reaching two national finals, setting back-to-back personal bests, and earning a place on the podium is a testament to her work ethic, maturity, and dedication in training.
Special credit must also go to Head Coach Daniel Andrawos, who has worked closely with Mia throughout the season. His guidance, support, and technical coaching have played a key role in her progression and success on the national stage.
We are incredibly proud of Mia and all she has achieved. The future is bright, and this is just the beginning.
Well done, Mia! Your coaches, teammates, and the entire Borough of Harrow Swimming Club community are cheering you on every step of the way. 💙🏊♀️👏
