Barnet Meet 7th June 2026 Report
First and foremost, a massive well done to every single swimmer who competed at todayβs gala at Barnet Copthall.
I am really pleased with how everyone performed, and it was a brilliant day to be poolside watching you all race. We saw some fantastic swims, including a number of Personal Bests, which is always something to be proud of. Every swimmer should leave today feeling positive about what they achieved in the water.
A special well done goes to our newer swimmers who experienced their very first gala today. Racing for the first time is a big moment, and you should be incredibly proud of yourselves for getting in the pool, competing, and giving it your best.
My message to you is simple: do not get too caught up in the times from today or any disqualifications. At this stage, what matters far more is the feedback I gave you individually, how you approached your races, and how you handled the experience of competing in a gala environment. That is where your focus should be. The times will come, and they will continue to improve, as long as you keep learning, keep training, and keep turning up.
For our more experienced swimmers, I was really pleased to see the technical improvements in the water. The work we have been putting in during training is clearly starting to show. The main focus now is race strategy: understanding how to pace yourselves, how to execute a race plan, and how to apply everything we practise in training when it really counts. That is what we will continue to build on together.
But truly, a massive well done to absolutely everyone today. You worked hard, represented the club well, and it showed.
I would also like to say a big thank you to coach Owen and our team manager Emma. Your support on poolside, help with the swimmers, and organisation throughout the gala made a real difference and was greatly appreciated.
Now we look ahead. We have two huge events coming up:
π Hillingdon β next weekend
π Club Championships β the final competition of the season
This is the last push. Keep the energy, keep the focus, and letβs finish the season as strongly as we started it. Everything we have built over the past few weeks has been leading to this, so letβs make it count.
Get some rest, eat well, and I will see you all in training this week, ready to go again.
Kind regards,
Jalall
