It has been a fantastic few days of national-level racing for Borough of Harrow Swimming Club, with swimmers representing the club at both the Swim England National Summer Meet and the Welsh National Championships.
Across both competitions, our swimmers have reached finals, achieved personal bests, challenged for medals and represented the club with tremendous determination and professionalism.
Swim England National Summer Meet
Three Borough of Harrow swimmers — Petros Soteriou, Mia Garner and Dragos Musteate — have been competing against some of the country’s leading swimmers at the Swim England National Summer Meet.
🦋 Dragos Opens the National Campaign
Dragos Musteate opened the club’s competition programme in the 100m Butterfly.
After progressing successfully through the heats, Dragos secured a place in the national final and finished an impressive 10th overall.
Reaching the final provided an excellent start to the meet and set the stage for another exciting day of racing.
Strong Performance from Petros
Petros Soteriou competed in the 200m Freestyle, producing a strong swim to finish an excellent 12th overall.
Finishing just outside the final places at a national competition was a tremendous achievement and another performance of which Petros can be extremely proud.
🥉 National Bronze for Mia Garner
Mia Garner qualified for the 200m Breaststroke final ranked seventh before producing an outstanding performance when it mattered most.
In a thrilling final, Mia moved through the field to finish third, securing a magnificent national bronze medal and recording a new personal-best time of 2:43.92.
It was a superb swim under pressure and a thoroughly deserved place on the national podium.
🦋 Two National Finals for Dragos
Following his appearance in the 100m Butterfly final, Dragos returned for the 50m Butterfly.
He qualified for the final ranked eighth before delivering another brilliant performance, moving up two places to finish sixth nationally and setting a new personal best of 27.47.
Qualifying for two national finals across two days is a tremendous achievement and reflects Dragos’s speed, consistency and determination.
Welsh National Championships
We are also extremely proud of Dylan Roberts and Macsen Roberts, who both qualified to compete at the Welsh National Championships.
The brothers have already produced a series of excellent performances and reached several national finals, with more events still to come.
Excellent Results for Dylan Roberts
Dylan has enjoyed an outstanding competition so far, reaching two finals and recording three excellent results.
In the 200m Freestyle, Dylan progressed to the final and finished an impressive seventh in a time of 2:07.26.
He also reached the final of the 50m Breaststroke, where he produced another strong performance to finish fifth in 34.68.
Dylan narrowly missed another final in the 100m Freestyle, finishing 11th overall with a time of 58.23.
Dylan still has the 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke remaining on his competition programme.
Two Finals for Macsen Roberts
Macsen has also delivered an excellent series of performances at the championships.
In the 50m Breaststroke final, Macsen came extremely close to the podium, finishing a brilliant fourth in a time of 35.33.
He also qualified for the 200m Breaststroke final, finishing seventh with a time of 2:51.04.
Macsen still has a busy programme ahead, with the 50m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley and 50m Butterfly still to swim.
A Proud Period for the Club
These results represent a tremendous achievement for Borough of Harrow Swimming Club.
Our swimmers have already recorded:
- Seven national final appearances
- One national bronze medal
- Several top-ten finishes
- Excellent personal-best performances
- Strong results across freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly events
With Dylan and Macsen still having further events to contest, there is more exciting racing to come.
A special mention must go to our Head Coach, Daniel Andrawos, whose dedication, guidance and hard work have played an important role in preparing our swimmers to compete confidently on the national stage.
These achievements also reflect the commitment of the wider coaching team, the support of the swimmers’ families and, most importantly, the hard work and determination shown by every swimmer throughout the season.
Congratulations to Petros, Mia, Dragos, Dylan and Macsen. You have represented Borough of Harrow Swimming Club with great pride, and the whole club is incredibly proud of you all.
