The Borough of Harrow Swimming Club (BHSC) is built on over a century of swimming tradition and community spirit.
Established in 1923, the original Harrow Swimming Club was founded at the Harrow Swimming Baths on Charles Crescent. By the 1930s, Harrow swimmers were already making their mark, with local newspaper reports in the Harrow Observer and Gazette celebrating medal success and the rapid growth of competitive swimming in the area.
In August 1973, the Harrow Observer and Gazette reported the clubâs 50th anniversary, confirming its long-standing presence and significance within the community.
In 1975, the club moved to the newly built Harrow Leisure Centre, marking a major step forward in training facilities and supporting the clubâs continued growth.
As swimming continued to flourish across the borough, Harrow Swimming Club formally merged with Wealdstone Swimming Club in 1976, uniting two strong local programmes to form Harrow & Wealdstone Swimming Club. This merger created a single, progressive pathway for swimmers of all ages in Harrow and strengthened the clubâs competitive presence at county and regional levels.
In 2009, to reflect its borough-wide identity, the club adopted the name Borough of Harrow Swimming Club. Under this banner, BHSC has continued to grow and evolve, developing swimmers from Learn to Swim through to County, Regional, and National competition.
Today, BHSC remains proud of its heritage â over 100 years of dedication, achievement, and community involvement â and continues to inspire the next generation of swimmers, coaches, and volunteers.
